Joey Sadler – President, Creative Director

Joey founded Light + Dark in 2018 with a vision of bringing together a collective of leading creatives in the lighting and production design field.  A Theatre Technical Production graduate of Ryerson University, Joey started his career in the lighting industry on cruise ships before deciding Toronto was where he wanted to build his career. 20 years later he is recognized as a leading talent in Canada’s lighting design and production management field, with the credibility one only earns from being on the ground at hundreds of events each year – be they tours, festivals, galas, rallies, corporate or design installations.

Eric Duquette

Eric has come to be known as one of Canada’s busiest touring lighting designers.  With over nine years experience, he has designed and executed tours for many of Canada’s most prominent artists including The Sheepdogs, Tim Hicks, Arkells, Broken Social Scene, Whitehorse and many others.

When not on the road, Eric lives in Toronto and plays in several bands of his own.

Curtis Leroux

Curtis brings his lighting design, programming and 3D rendering skills to the team alongside his years of touring as Lighting Director with bands like Walk Off the Earth, Serena Ryder and Shawn Mendes, among others.

He is also a lead systems technician, programmer and operator for large multinational companies such as Caesars Palace and PRG.

James Plouffe

A graduate of the Technical Performance Production program at Ryerson Theatre School, James is responsible for design, technical production and project management of Light + Dark’s biggest clients and some of Canada’s largest shows!  Designing and operating shows since 2005, credits include Shad, Always Never, K-Os, Japandroids, Tim Hicks, Carly Rae Jepson, and the House of Vans to name a few. As manager of operations, James carries lead production roles for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the City of Toronto’s Cavalcade of Lights & New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Much Music Video Awards, Canadian Country Music Awards, the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball and The Aurora Winter Festival.

Catherine martel

Catherine Martel has been a lighting technician in Toronto for the past 10 years.  With a focus on television, her keen sense of leadership and ability to manage has brought her to the face of some of Canada’s most notable national shows, such as; Sportsnet, Hockey Night In Canada, Jimmy Kimmel Live with Jungle, eTalk, Marilyn Denis, Business News Network & Your Morning.  She’s also had the pleasure of leading crews for live productions such as Veld, Boots & Hearts, the iHeart Radio Music Awards, City of Toronto’s Cavalcade of Lights & New Years Eve and Fortune’s Most Powerful Women’s Summit to name a few.
